Good things started in Rome 50 years ago. It’s where we opened our first international headquarters, and we haven’t looked back. The office has become a central hub for all European, Middle East and African business—extending services beyond borders while breaking down language barriers.
It all started in 1972, back when we were known as Taylor Freezer. We arrived in Deutschland for the first ever European foodservice industry trade show, coinciding with the opening of the first McDonald’s in Munich. With a crowded booth and the impending tidal wave of fast-food influence, we knew it was time to plant our flag in the heart of European cuisine—Rome.
We officially opened our doors in 1973 near the international airport but eventually moved to downtown Rome in 2000. It’s been the epicenter of our EMEA market for 50 years, supporting customers and distributors while establishing ourselves as the best commercial foodservice equipment provider in the area. We eventually went on to establish and support over 56 international distributors that represent Taylor excellence.

Connecting with customers at a local level is as important in Europe as it is stateside. Because it’s one thing to grasp the language but another thing entirely to understand the culture, the neighborhood and what’s important. It’s food! The answer is always food.
Over the past 50 years, we’ve seen good things spreading across the European continent with no sign of slowing down. We’ve engaged in the challenges of emerging competition and successfully reinforced our business network—all thanks to our staff’s ability to ingrain themselves in the many diverse cultures that make up this great market. Here’s to five decades of continuing Taylor’s legacy around the world.
